Truth in Advertising

People get vanity license plates for various reasons: to pay homage to their families, support a favorite sports team, showcase their hobbies, and even make private jokes. But one Washington man was right on the money with his choice.

Police in Bellevue took an unnamed motorist into custody after they say he intentionally rear-ended another driver at a car wash. When law enforcement arrived on scene, they say the man pulled a gun and threatened to kill an officer. Appropriately, his license plate reads: DIRTBAG.

He’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon, malicious harassment, obstructing justice, and resisting arrest. Police are mulling also charging him with a hate crime, for making racist remarks about the other driver.
