Oprah, Sex Abuse, and Mission to Mars — Feedback Friday

Oprah 2020? Not So Fast

While I do agree with “No to the O,” I think the author missed a few key points. If Oprah Winfrey were to run for President, she’d damage her brand, just like Trump has. She’d alienate people who don’t follow her politics. If she got in, she’d have to stop all of her current business operations, as well (broadcast, food, etc.).

Years ago, Oprah interviewed Trump on her show and asked him about a possible run for President. Later, she joked that “it also doesn’t pay as well.” The President pulls an annual salary of about $400,000. Oprah easily makes five times that now. Not worth it!

Equal for Everyone

Now there’s a pub in Canada where women get a discount to “make up for” a discrepancy in wages. The problem with that is that it doesn’t do anything to solve the problem. We need equal pay for equal work. Period.

Otherwise, this is a just a marketing ploy and/or way to rile people up. It would be like giving different races discounts to “make up for” racism, rather than addressing the actual issue.

No Martian Love

Now there’s an American Girl doll who’s supposed to be some kind of astronaut with dreams of going to Mars.

All these people who want to go to Mars don’t think about the fact that it’s a one-way ticket. Even the people who do are so blinded by the prospect that they can’t see the big picture.

I have a buddy who really wants to go. He’s got a wife and kids! He thinks they’ll remember him as some sort of space pioneer, but really they’ll just have sad lives without a husband and father. If you ask me, that’s just selfish.
